A extended journey around the Land Down Under has been cancelled in the wake of the tragic passing of an older woman who was left behind by the ship on a remote tropical isle.

The passenger had been walking on Lizard Island with fellow passengers from the cruise ship, but separated from the excursion for a rest. The liner departed without her and came back several hours later after the ship staff discovered the woman was not present.

A major hunt discovered her body the following day.

Authorities are examining the tragedy, alongside law enforcement and the official investigator.

Head of the shipping company stated that passengers and staff on the Coral Adventurer were notified that the remainder of the voyage had been terminated due to the "sad loss and earlier mechanical issues".

In a statement, he further stated that travelers would be given a total repayment, and said the organization was working "to arrange the travel back of the individuals via specially arranged planes".

Officials also released an revised statement, and said they had "issued a notice to the Commander" banning any new passengers from getting on the ship.

The spokesperson said that they would attend the vessel in Cairns upon its return.

The daughter of the victim said that her relatives was "shocked and saddened that the liner left the island after an organised excursion without my mum".

Through her comments, she characterized her mother as an "energetic octogenarian" who was a member of a walking club.

"According to scant details we have been told, it appears that there was a breakdown of attention and common sense," she mentioned.

She further stated that she desired the examination would be able to identify what "the company should have undertaken that might have protected Her existence".

"Based on information from the police that it was a very hot day, and mum took sick on the mountain ascent," she revealed.

"They requested her to return, alone. Then the boat departed, seemingly without performing a headcount.

Organization Reaction

In a statement, the Head affirmed that the operator was "collaborating extensively with officials to support their investigation".

The ship caters for up to one hundred twenty travelers with forty-six staff, according to corporate details. It was specifically designed to access remote areas of Australia's shoreline and is outfitted with "tenders" - minor craft used to transport individuals on day excursions.
